Design brief - Second Semester Project
Develop a low energy data centre for a major computing company.
The buildings is to be a prime example of sustainable, low energy architecture and is embedded to be an exemple for future date centres.
We have different specifications, as :

Total electric demand for IT 5MW.

The building needs to be continously cooled to prevent IT equipment overheating and failing

Needs to have a robust and fail-safe power supply.

Building height inferior to 10 metres to preserve the beauty of the venue.

The building needs to accomodate 50 IT, maintenance and security staff in open plan and cellular office space (40/10) with facilites for food preparation, toilets...

Cooling demands should be minimised ad make use of passive cooling were possible.

Maximise the quantity of energy supplied from local sources.

Should employ demande management.

Needs to be secure.

Showcase for multiple renewable energies;

Where possible building should source local building materials;

Striking and innovative design;

Should improve local landscape;

Maximum use of natural light and other energy efficient/demand reduction technologies.
