Low Energy Data Centre
Lighting
For the server room
For the server room we will only use artificial light; since we can’t put window to avoid radiation from the sun and increasing of temperature which is harmful to the server.
So we decided to put 2460 Ceiling Smart LED of 10 W, we chose LED because:
-
Its greener: LED lamps emit less heat. It can reduce the interior temperature of 1-2 degrees which suits us for the server room.
-
Longer lifetime: 30 times longer than incandescent, 25 times longer than halogen lamps and 10 times longer than compact fluorescent lamps.
-
High efficiency: Saves 80% of energy consumption compared to standard low-power halogen and incandescent lamps and therefore lowering electric bills.
-
Superior Color: Improved comfort: the clear light and high notes on the color rendering index (CRI), which indicates accurate color reproduction.
These 2460 Ceiling Smart LED will provide an estimated 526 Lux by Dialux which suits regulations about typical illuminance value within a data centre.

A data centre is running 24h/24h but the server room is only occupied in case of maintenance, verification or routine test by few IT in small areas.
As we have a room of 2862m², it will cost a lot of money and we will lose a lot of energy if we light all the server room at each procedure.
That’s why we choose to use an occupancy sensor “Follow me lighting”; a lighting device that detects occupancy and turns the light on or off automatically.
The “Follow me lighting“ system allows a total mobility for the staff in the aisles. It lights the lamps in accordance with the displacement of people in an area of 25m² which is enough for all operations on the racks.
